William Francis LaBonte

William Francis LaBonte, 55, of 60 Summer St. died Sunday morning at home after a brief illness. Born in North Adams on Oct. 5, 1949, son of Francis and Madeline Roulier LaBonte, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1968. An Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Turkey with the U.S. Army Security Agency. Mr. LaBonte was employed as a painter at numerous places in the area, retiring in 1999. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame des Sept Douluers and St. Thomas Aquinas in Adams. He enjoyed fishing and woodcrafting. He leaves a daughter, Elizabeth LaBonte of Adams; a brother, Richard LaBonte of Adams, and four sisters, Barbara Swanson of Pownal, Vt., Janet Maniatis and Suzanne LeClair, both of Pittsfield and Carolyn Chalifoux of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services and burial for William Francis LaBonte will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME in Adams is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include four brothers-in-law, Thomas Chalifoux, T.J. LeClair, Robert Swanson and Nicholas Maniatis, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his longtime companion, Missy, and her family.
