Robert A. Pearce

Robert A. Pearce, 72, of 25 Brodie Mountain Road died Monday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 15, 1932, son of Anna Mae Shorey Pearce and the late Albert J. Pearce, he was a 1951 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A United States Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Intrepid during the Korean War. In 1970, Mr. Pearce began his own business, Pearce Automotive Services, which serviced the New England Telephone trucks. He later worked for Butler services from 1993 to 1997. He was first employed by General Electric in the 1950s and as a mechanic at Berkshire Auto and O'Connell auto dealerships. He was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, dogs and animals. He also enjoyed horseback riding, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and traveling and was an avid outdoorsman. He and his wife, the former June Anne Binder, were married April 7, 1955. Besides his mother of Mesa, Ariz., and wife, he leaves two daughters, Kim Harford of Pittsfield and Dana Shampang of Lanesboro; a son, Robert Pearce Jr. of Niskayuna, N.Y.; a sister, Marilyn Pearce Taylor of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mr. Robert Pearce will be Friday at noon at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Cory Loder, pastor of Pilgrim Memorial Church officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7. Among survivors are his grandchildren, Jan Trapnell, Robin Pearce, Stacie Street, James Robert Street, Alicia Shampang and Jared Shampang and his great-grandchildren, Narissa Trapnell and Dylan Salvigna. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield 01201.
