Marian DeMastrie

Marian DeMastrie, 93, of 72 Lincoln St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Oct. 19. Born in North Adams on Oct. 8, 1911, daughter of Salvatore and Virginia Sebastino Ferrara, she was educated in local schools. Mrs. DeMastrie was employed by the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. for more than 40 years, until the company closed in 1968. She then worked for more than eight years at Excelsior Printing Co., retiring in 1976. She was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Her husband, Samuel Frank DeMastrie, whom she married June 14, 1937, died Oct. 8, 1968. She leaves three sisters, Catherine Giguere and Dolores "Laddie" Conte, both of North Adams, and Gloria Anderson of Clarksburg, and two brothers, Salvatore "Babe" Ferrara of North Adams and Frank Ferrara of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marian DeMastrie will be Thursday, Oct. 28, at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 68 Marshall St., by the Rev Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Oct. 27, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony's Church through the funeral home. Survivors include sisters-in-law Annette Ferrara of Adams and Roberta Ferrara of North Adams; a brother-in-law, John Anderson of Clarksburg; aunt Rose Vitali of North Adams, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers Salvatore, in infancy, John, Alfred and Thomas Ferrara.
