Susan Louise Phelps

Susan Louise Phelps, 88, a longtime resident of Roys Road, died Sunday evening at home after a long illness. Born in Deptford, N.J., on March 31, 1916, daughter of Morey and Ivy Manchester Smith, she attended schools there. Mrs. Phelps was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Williamstown and enjoyed animals and gardening. Her husband, Roger H. Phelps, whom she married May 31, 1941, in Woodbury, N.J., is deceased. Shortly after their marriage, they relocated to New Ashford. She leaves a son, Robert Phelps of Hoosick, N.Y.; a daughter, Susan L. Phelps of New Ashford; three granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Susan Louise Phelps, 88, who died Oct. 31, 2004, will be conducted tomorrow, Nov. 3, at 10 at First Baptist Church in Williamstown by the Rev. Peter Daniels. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, today, Nov. 2, from 4 to 7. Memorials may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter or First Baptist Church through the funeral home. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Sandra Phelps; granddaughters Heidi Byrne and her husband, Brian, Betsy Seplowitz and her husband, Eric, and Brenda Phelps, and two great-grandchildren, Kyra and Eliza Byrne. She was predeceased by three brothers.
