William W. Potter

William W. Potter, 73, died Friday at the Village at Laurel Lake, where he had resided for 18 months. Born in Keene, N.H., on May 20, 1931, son of Frederick F. and Mary Bergeron Potter, he was educated in Keene schools and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Conn. He had resided on Winchester Road in Northfield before moving to Lee. Mr. Potter was employed as head of food services by Keene State College and Franklin Pierce College, from which he retired. Prior to that, he worked for many years at the former Northfield Inn, first as executive chef and later as manager. He was an avid golfer and was the club champion at the Northfield Golf Course for several years. His wife, the former Phyllis Eldrige, whom he married Jan. 20, 1951, died in 1988. He leaves three daughters, Diane Potter of Heath, Debra Goodwin of Ashfield and Donna Potter-Astion of Stockbridge, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William W. Potter will be Wednesday at 10:15 from KIDDER FUNERAL HOME, 1 Parker Ave., Northfield, Mass., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at St. Patrick's Church, Main Street, Northfield, by the Rev. Gerald Brady, pastor. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Survivors include three sons-in-law, Morrissey, Tim Goodwin and Douglas Astion; two grandchildren, Ariella and Alana Astion of Stockbridge, and many nieces and nephews.
