Dominic Anthony Mondia Sr.

Dominic Anthony Mondia Sr., 67, of 157 East Quincy St. died Saturday night at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted Nov. 9. Born in North Adams on June 1, 1937, son of Frank A. and Leanavee Hewitt Mondia, he attended Drury High School. Mr. Mondia was employed by Fiber Optics Corp., retiring in 1994. Before that, he worked at General Cable Corp. in Williamstown for 28 years, at the former R.J. Widen Tannery and at Pfister Aluminum Co. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and enjoyed constructing model ships and yachts. He and his wife, the former Doris Violet Packard, were married June 29, 1963, in St. Anthony's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Tammy Mondia and Tina Licht, both of North Adams; a son, Dominic A. Mondia Jr. of North Adams; a sister, Dorothy Mondia of North Adams, and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Dominic Mondia Sr. will be Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Nov. 16, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. Survivors include a son-in-law, Brad Licht, and a grandson, Adam Licht, both of North Adams, and family friend Norma L. Hoxter of St. Petersburg, Fla. He was predeceased by a sister, Leanavee Mondia, and a brother, Francis Mondia.
