Mildred May Smith

Mildred May Smith, 86, of 13 Beech St. died Saturday morning at North Adams Commons. Born in Adams on Aug. 21, 1918, daughter of Norman and Mildred Williams Smith, she graduated from the former Adams High School. Miss Smith was the administrative assistant to the director of buildings and grounds at Williams College in Williamstown for more than 30 years, retiring 20 years ago. An active member of First Congregational Church, she taught Sunday school and was a member and former director of its choir. She was also a member of the Williams College Retirees' Club and a Boston Red Sox fan. She leaves a nephew, William C. Smith of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mildred Smith will be Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 10 at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. The Rev. Michael Mullany, pastor of First Congregational Church of Adams, will officiate. Burial will be in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9:30 until the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Ambulance service through the funeral home. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Victoria Smith of Adams; a nephew, William C. Smith of Adams; three grandnephews, Joshua J. Smith of Cheshire, Eric M. Smith, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Alaska, and Zachary C. Smith of Raleigh, N.C.; a great-grandniece, and a great-grandnephew. Her brother, William E. Smith, died Aug. 2, 2004.
