Helen Cornell

Helen Cornell, 88, formerly of Van Antwerp Road, Niskayuna, N.Y., died Thursday, Nov. 18, after a long illness. Born in Akron, Ohio, on May 13, 1916, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Herberich Metzger. Mrs. Cornell was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Schenectady, N.Y., and the Sunnyview Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Panhellenic Association. Her husband, Donald H. Cornell, whom she married Sept. 2, 1939, died in August 2000. She leaves a son, Eugene D. Cornell of Pittsfield; a daughter, Janet Cornell Hemker of Flowermound, Texas; a brother, Henry Metzger of Arizona; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Eucharist of the Resurrection on Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, at 11 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. It is requested there be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's memory to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1935 The Plaza, Schenectady, N.Y., 12309. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie, N.Y. Arrangements are by the JONES FUNERAL HOME, 1503 Union St., Schenectady, N.Y.
