Irene L. Davidson

Irene L. Davidson, 82, of 1108 Ashley Falls Road died Monday at Haven Health Care in Torrington, Conn. Born in Great Barrington on May 24, 1922, daughter of Leon and Louise Fischer Fuller, she was a 1940 graduate of the former Searles High School. She also graduated from the former St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield. She had lived in Sheffield most of her life. She moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1985 and returned to Ashley Falls in 1995. Mrs. Davidson was employed at the Sheffield Garden Shop for many years. Earlier, she had worked as a doctor's assistant and delivery room nurse at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. She was a member and deaconess at Old Parish Church. She was an active member of the Sheffield Republican Committee, a community volunteer and an avid gardener. Her husband, Gordon W. Davidson Sr., whom she married Feb. 8, 1952, died Aug. 13, 2001. She leaves two sons, Gordon W. Davidson Jr. of Exeter, N.H., and Barry Davidson of Ashley Falls; a daughter, Patricia Sherman of Chelmsford; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Another son, Ralph R. Little III, died in January. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services and burial for Irene L. Davidson, who died Nov. 22, 2004, will be in the spring of 2005, following with Irene's wishes. There will be no calling hours. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230 is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy in Irene's memory may be made to Northwest CT Dialysis Fund Inc., in care of the funeral home. Her brother, Walter Fuller, died in January.
