Margaret Eichstedt

Margaret Eichstedt, 85, formerly of Sheffield, died Thursday evening at Beckley House in Canaan, Conn., where she had resided since March 2002. Born in Rouen, France, on Sept. 16, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Virginia Juann Trierweiler, her family moved to Sheffield when she was a child and, in the early 1930s, to the family farm on County Road. She attended the one-room school house on Brush Hill and Sheffield Center School. She moved to Sharon, Conn., in 1953. Mrs. Eichstedt was employed as a nurse's aide in Sheffield and Lakeville, Conn., and at Sharon Hospital for 18 years, retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church and a member of Sheffield American Legion Auxiliary Unit 340. She enjoyed gardening. Her husband, Edward Eichstedt, whom she married in Sheffield, died in 1976. She leaves a son, Edward Eichstedt of Coupeville, Wash.; a brother, John Trierweiler of Sheffield; four grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Margaret Eichstedt, who died Dec. 2, 2004, will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11 at FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington, by the Rev. Al Dagnoli. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 7, from 10 until the time of the service. She also leaves her grandchildren, Debbie, Jennifer and Jeffrey Eichstedt and Beth Comer; her great-grandson, Evan Beales Eichstedt, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Matilda "Tillie" Hitchcock and Constance Kotos, and two brothers, Yves and Nicholas Trierweiler.
