Harry Douglas "Digger" Klein

Harry Douglas "Digger" Klein, 55, of 182 Veazie St. died Sunday afternoon at home after a short illness. Born in Putnam, Vt., on Oct. 17, 1949, son of Harold T. and Ruth O. Drescher Klein, he attended schools in Pittsfield, including Pittsfield High School. He served in the Army. A plumber, Mr. Klein was last employed by Frosty Mechanical in Pittsfield. Before that, he worked at Shedd Plumbing in Pittsfield for about 13 years. In his early years, he was a rust-proofer for the former Tuff-Kote Dinyl in Pittsfield. He enjoyed fishing and shooting pool, and was a fan of NASCAR. He and his wife, the former Katherine M. Campion, were married June 8, 1970, in Richmond. Besides his wife and parents, of Riverview, Fla., he leaves three sons, Harry D. Klein II, Mark A. Klein and Michael A. Klein, all of North Adams; seven brothers, William Lewis of Fruitland Park, Fla., Lawrence Klein of Huntington, Robert Joseph Klein of Tampa, Fla., John David Klein of Pittsfield, Timothy Klein of Elkhart, Ind., Bruce E. Klein of Tampa, Fla., and Robert Klein of Riverview; three sisters, Susan Clapper and Sandra D. Prunner, both of Riverview, and Tracy Klein of Tampa, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Harry D. Klein will be Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Donations may be made to Kaitlynn Karo Education in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a granddaughter, Kaitlynn Karo, and his beloved dogs, Ginny and Squirt.
