V. Marie Soule

V. Marie Soule, 87, of 5 Yale Court died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Utica, N.Y., on June 14, 1917, the daughter of Frederick and Viola Younghanz Latimer, she moved to Pittsfield as a young girl with her parents and was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She moved to Stockbridge in 1948. Mrs. Soule was employed by the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge, where she worked in the office and printing department. She retired in 1982 after 25 years of service. Before that, she worked at Monument Mills in Housatonic and at the former A.H. Rice Silk Mill in Pittsfield. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge and a member of the Stockbridge, Berkshire South Pomona, and state and national granges. She was also a member of the Brightside Guild and the Stockbridge Council on Aging. Her husband, Timothy F. Soule, whom she married March 4, 1944, died Dec. 29, 1977. She leaves two sons, Norman B. Soule of Village, Fla., and Gordon D. Soule of West Stockbridge; a brother, Donald Latimer of Albany, N.Y.; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for V. Marie Soule will be Thursday, Dec. 9, at 10:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge celebrated by the Rev. Steven F. McGuigan, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to Elder Services, both in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. She leaves her loving grandchildren, Laurie, Lisa, Norman, Gordon, Kevin and Kristin. She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Latimer, and by a sister, Arlene Abert.
