William S. "Crash" Winn

William S. "Crash" Winn, 51, of Greylock Street died Friday evening at home of pancreatic cancer. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 27, 1953, son of William H. and Dorothy Sturgis Winn, he attended schools in Lee and was a 1971 graduate of Lee High School. He also attended Berkshire Community College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Mr. Winn was employed by the New York State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for 27 years. He was a fan of the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics and the New York Yankees, and enjoyed science. He also built his own home in 1985. He and his wife, the former Torey E. SanJurjo, were married Oct. 5, 1985. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Audra Winn of Lee, a junior at Lee High School; a son, Willy Winn, of Lee, a freshman at Lee High, and two brothers, David Winn of Lee and F. Jason Winn of Greenwich, Conn. FUNERAL NOTICE -- William S. Winn is also survived by his aunt, Ruth Carlson of Red Hook, N.Y.; his paternal cousin, Barbara Stickle of Red Hook; his maternal cousins, Deborah Mougin of Lee and Franklin Sturgis of Pittsfield; another aunt and cousin, along with his mother-in-law, Ruth SanJurjo of Lee, and brother-in-law, Scott SanJurjo of Lowell. Crash was best known for hunting, soccer, table tennis and rock ‘n' roll, for being a dedicated, loving dad, husband and friend, and for his good taste in beer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME, with a service at 10 at St. Paul's Church in Stockbridge conducted by the Rev. John T. Tarrant, rector. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Lee. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, c/o the funeral home.
