Josephine Virginia "Chick" King

Josephine Virginia "Chick" King, 76, of Holy Family Terrace died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Bennington, Vt., on Sept. 7, 1928, daughter of Herman D. and Mary Ellen Tinney LeRay, she was raised in Williamstown and attended the former Williamstown High School. She moved to North Adams 30 years ago. Mrs. King was employed by Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown as a nurse's aide for 20 years. After retiring, she continued to provide private-duty home care for several Williamstown families. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. In her earlier years, she enjoyed golf and bowling. She and her husband, Calvin P. King, were married April 7, 1947. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Wayne A. King and Patrick C. King, both of North Adams; a daughter, Kelly M. Miner of North Adams; a brother, Byron LeRay of Bennington, Vt.; five grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Josephine V. "Chick" King, who died Jan. 2, 2005, will be Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 9 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Jan. 4, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 46 Church St., 01247. Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Cynthia J. and Ruth J. King, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Herman LeRay Jr. and Robert LeRay.
