Martha B. Belanger

Martha B. Belanger, 57, of 55 Highland Ave. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield of cancer. Born in Adams on March 15, 1947, daughter of Stephen T. and M. Wilmer McBride Bradford, she was a 1964 graduate of the former Adams High School. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in 1969 from St. Mary's College in Hooksett, N.H., and her master's degree in education from Lesley College in Boston. She was pursuing a doctoral degree. At the time of her death, Mrs. Belanger was employed by the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District at Hoosac Valley High School, where she taught business and computer applications. A teacher for 35 years, she first taught business at the former Adams High School. Earlier, she had worked summers at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. She and her husband, Richard C. Belanger, second engineer with the Alert Hose Company, were married June 29, 1969, in St. Thomas' Church Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Jacob "Brad" Belanger of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Megan Smith of Hopedale and Danielle Erdmann of Springfield, and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Martha Belanger, who died Jan. 11, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 15, at 10 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church by the Rev. Daniel Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. A visitation period and prayer service will be observed Saturday from 8 to 9:30 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements. She leaves her grandson, Jacob Smith. She had many fond remembrances of her students.
