Jean R. Cummings

Jean R. Cummings, 73, of 800 Stockbridge Road, Holly House, died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 2, 1931, daughter of Robert and Ruth Richmond Mackie, she was educated in Lee and Pittsfield schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1949 and the former Pittsfield Secretarial School in 1950. She lived in Southfield from 1955 to 1960, when she moved to High Lawn Farm in Lee. In 1986, she moved to Riverbrook Residence in Stockbridge, returning to Lee in 1999. Mrs. Cummings was employed by GE in the ordinance department until 1955 and later worked at Riverbrook Residence in Stockbridge from 1970 until retiring in 1999. Her husband, Charles C. Cummings Sr., whom she married June 5, 1954, died July 4, 1990. She leaves two sons, Charles C. "Chip" Cummings Jr. of Lee and Timothy S. Cummings of North Dartmouth; three daughters, Roberta "Robin" DelGrande of West Stockbridge, Sandra J. Scapin of Lee and Cynthia A. "Cindy" Cummings of Pittsfield; two brothers, Richard Mackie of Orofino, Idaho, and Trevor Mackie of Shelburn Falls; two sisters, Roberta Bowman of Orlando, W.Va., and Brenda Callahan of Easthampton, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Jean R. Cummings will be held Tuesday at 11 at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with the Rev. Bert W. Marshall, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Lee, officiating. Burial will follow in the Stockbridge Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee 01238. She leaves her loving grandchildren, John, Bob, Alan, Chad, Donny, Cheyenne, Sarah, Katie and Matthew, and her great-grandchildren, Haley and Alexis. She also leaves her devoted sons-in-law, Peter, George and Tim, and her daughters-in-law, Christine and Nancy.
