Christine Y. Marhenke, 79, of 34 Country Road died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on July 14, 1925, daughter of George W. and Birdella Warden Young, she was a 1943 graduate of the former Dalton High School. Mrs. Marhenke was employed by Crane & Co. for 37 1/2 years in the bordering department prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of the First Congregational Church of Dalton. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved animals. She leaves her husband, Earl Marhenke, whom she married July 10, 1965; three sons, David Cooper of Hinsdale, Dick Cooper of Cheshire and Gary Cooper of Dalton; a sister, Evian Grace of Dalton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Alan Cooper. FUNERAL NOTICE -- At the request of Mrs. Marhenke, there will be no funeral services. Donations in her memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton 01226. She was predeceased by a sister, Geradline Fillio.
