Florence Packard

Florence Packard, 70, formerly of Spring Street, died Monday evening at North Adams Commons following a long illness. She had resided at the nursing home five years. Born in Stephentown, N.Y., on Dec. 18, 1934, daughter of James and Amelia Wert Jacobs, she was educated there. Mrs. Packard was employed as a maintenance worker at the former Green Mountain Racetrack in Pownal, Vt. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, coloring fuzzy posters and attending coffee socials at the nursing home. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Packard. She leaves a son, Daniel Packard of Grafton, N.Y.; a daughter, Donna Packard of the state of Florida; two sisters, Helen Baldwin of Stephentown and Bertha Starvird of Dade City, Fla.; a brother, Eugene Jacobs of Dade City and several grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Raymond Packard. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Florence Packard, who died Jan. 17, 2005, will be held tomorrow, Jan. 21, at 11 at Sherman Burbank Chapel at Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. The Rev. Penny Rich-Smith, pastor of Second Congregational Church in Williamstown, will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Eastlawn. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of GEORGE M. HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Maren Jacobs of Lenox, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Jacobs.
