John R. Weatherwax, 70

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — John R. Weatherwax, 70, of 281 Barker Road died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at home. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 25, 1934, the son of Myron and Hazel Dunn Weatherwax, he was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Weatherwax was a carpenter for 35 years and served his apprenticeship in Florida from 1952 to 1953. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of Carpenters' Union 220 for 22 years. He enjoyed cabinetmaking, fishing, shooting pool, gardening, playing the organ and collecting art. He leaves his wife, the former Jacquelyn Janes, whom he married Sept. 17, 1960, in Sacred Heart Church; a son, Kent Weatherwax and his wife, Christine Carmel, of Dalton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Joseph Bolus of Pittsfield and Jane and James Anglin of Marstons Mills; a brother, Harold Weatherwax of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Ann Hunt of Pittsfield and Catherine Reardon of Carlsbad, N.M., and nine grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Shaunna (his primary caregiver) and Anthony Brogan, Steven, Mary and Sean Anglin and Anthony and Leandra Carmel and Dylan Carmel. He was predeceased by a brother, William Weatherwax, and a sister, Lily Weatherwax. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Weatherwax will be Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 8:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Jan. 25 from 4 to 7. If friends desire, donations in his memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
