Margaret Constance Astorino

Margaret Constance Astorino, 99, formerly of 86 Lincoln Court, died Monday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown, where she had resided since May 28, 2004. Born in North Adams on Sept. 16, 1905, daughter of Silvestro and Emma Gigliotti Astorino, she graduated from Drury High School and the former Bliss Business College. Miss Astorino was employed for 26 years as an operator and supervisor with the former New England Telephone Co., retiring in 1971. She began her working career in the engraving room of the former Arnold Print Works on Marshall Street. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She also was a member of the former Italian Catholic Girls Club and Lodge 704 Sons of Italy, where she served in all offices and three terms as venerable. She leaves nephews and nieces, including her caregivers, Paul Astorino and his wife, Barbara, of Cheshire, and Verne Bosworth of Williamstown. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Margaret Astorino, who died Jan. 24, 2005, will be Friday, Jan 28, at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, Jan 28, from 9 until 10. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Anthony Church through the funeral home. Survivors include caregivers Paul and Barbara Astorino of Cheshire and Verne Bosworth of Williamstown, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. Predeceased by her sisters, Mary DiLego and Molly Astorino, and her brothers, Roy Astorino, Louis Astorino, Fred Astorino, Francis "Butch" Astorino and one in infancy.
