Mary C. Battis Bishop

Mary C. Battis Bishop, 88, of 4 Columbia St. died early yesterday morning at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on June 27, 1916, daughter of Brayton and Josephine Fletcher Gardner Crawford, she attended schools there, including the former St. Joseph's High School. She lived in North Adams until moving to New Brunswick, Canada, in 1977, where she lived until returning to the area in 1997. Mrs. Bishop worked as a private-duty, home health aide for several years before moving to Canada. She enjoyed horses and horseback riding. Her husband, Maurice Bishop, died in January of 1998. She leaves two daughters, Nancy Biagini of Cheshire and Kathleen Williamson of Adams; a sister, Margaret LaBombard of North Adams; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Russell Bowman and Gordon Bowman. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services will be Saturday, Jan. 29, at noon in the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. The Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday from 10 until the service. She leaves six grandchildren, Michelle Biagini of Adams, Michael Biagini of Cheshire, Matthew Soha of San Diego, and Jesse Soha and Joseph Soha of Adams; four great-grandchildren, Dillon Biagini, Timothy Biagini, Nathan Biagini and Haley Morgan. She was predeceased by a grandson, Russell Williamson; and by three sisters and four brothers.
