Edith Lillian Shaw Miner

Edith Lillian Shaw Miner, 83, of 45 Hawley Road died Friday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Savoy on Jan. 21, 1922, daughter of Archie and Ruth Kemp Harwood, she attended Savoy schools. Mrs. Miner was employed as a clinical assistant at North Adams Regional Hospital for eight years, retiring in 1987. She worked for several years at the former Brightwater Paper Co. in Adams before moving to Virginia and, later, to Albany, N.Y., where she worked at Albany Medical Center. She returned to Savoy 30 years ago. She was a member of Brier Chapel and attended Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Savoy Senior Citizens, the Savoy Council on Aging and Take Off Pounds Sensibly. Her first husband, Robert Shaw, and her second husband, Avery Miner, are both deceased. She leaves two sons, Francis Shaw of Peru and Peter Miner of Savoy; two brothers, Kenneth Harwood and Donald Harwood, both of Savoy; a sister, Marion Torrey of Peru; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Another son, Edgar Miner, died Jan. 2, 2004. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Edith Shaw Miner will be conducted tomorrow, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, by the Rev. Kenneth M. Mick Jr., pastor of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Savoy. Burial will be in the spring in Spruce Corner Cemetery, Savoy. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 until the service.
