Marion Ann Chamberlain

Marion Ann Chamberlain, 91, of 59 Chestnut St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Jan. 22. Born in North Adams on Sept. 12, 1913, daughter of Edward and Anna Dawson Douglas, she was attended schools there, including Drury High School. She resided in New York City, Long Beach, Calif., Philadelphia and Pittsfield, before returning to North Adams. Mrs. Chamberlain was employed by the former Arnold Print Works, and later with the former Hollywood Millinery and Roberts' stores. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church, and a member and past president of the Emblem Club and of the local AARP chapter. She was a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army and enjoyed crafts. She knitted hundreds of afghans for church raffles, veterans' hospitals and friends. She also enjoyed traveling and was a longtime trip organizer with the Dufour bus company. Her husband, retired Navy Cmdr. Francis Elzar Chamberlain, whom she married Dec. 26, 1932, died Oct. 20, 1966. She leaves two daughters, Ann Marie Tomaselli of Bradenton, Fla., and Suzanne Greenawalt of Minneapolis; a son, Edward Douglas Chamberlain of Palmetto, Fla.; three sisters, Ellen Monette of Norfolk, Va., Jane Lapine and Frances Sebastino, both of North Adams; longtime friend and caregiver, Marybeth Ameen of North Adams; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Marion Chamberlain, who died Jan. 29, 2005, will be Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis' Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Jan. 31, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Salvation Army or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a son-in-law, James P. Greenawalt; nine grandchildren, David Tomaselli, Diana Luckevich, Debora Tomaselli, Zachary Greenawalt, Jessica Greenawalt, Courtney Greenawalt, Craig Chamberlain, Colleen Tremaine and Margo Henshaw; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay Luckevich, Steven Luckevich and Katherine Aylott, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Florence DiLego, and brothers Merton Douglas and William Douglas.
