Louise E. O'Donnell

Louise E. O'Donnell, 84, of 157 Bull Hill Road died early Wednesday morning after a battle with lung cancer at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Hogan of Bellingham, with whom she had recently made her home. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 1, 1921, daughter of Francesco and Carmino Pezzo Carnevale, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School in its last January class. Mrs. O'Donnell had been employed as a telephone operator and then as a service adviser at the former New England Telephone Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1977 with 22 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church. She was a member of the Itam Lodge, the Telephone Pioneers' Association, the G.E.A.A. Women's Golf League, and the Ralph Froio Senior Center. In Lanesboro, she was a member of the Lanesboro Senior Club, the Council on Aging and the Board of Registrars. She was an active member of the Democratic Committee and served as a delegate to several state conventions. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, golf and reading. Her husband, Charles K. O'Donnell, whom she married Sept. 18, 1943, died July 23, 1996. Besides her daughter, she leaves a brother, Anthony B. Carnevale of Cincinnati; two sisters, Maryann E. Pfersick and Elizabeth Carnevale, both of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter. She was predeceased by a daughter, Maureen A. O'Donnell, who died June 12, 2003. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Louise E. O'Donnell, 84, was called safely home Jan. 26, 2005 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 5 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:15 from the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Lanesboro Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Pat; son-in-law, John, and her granddaughter, Christine Ann, and her husband, Bryan Marks of Milford. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother, Joseph A. Carnevale, in 2002 and a sister, Rose Angelo, in 1972.
