Robert Joseph Croteau

Robert Joseph Croteau, 58, of South Street died Sunday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. Born in Springfield on Aug. 29, 1946, son of Felix and Anna Sears Croteau, he attended schools there and was a 1964 graduate of the former Trade High School there. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from 1966 until 1968. Mr. Croteau owned and operated Bobcat Painting Co. in Pittsfield, until stopping 1989 because of ill health. He was a member of the Massachusetts Chapter 15 Disabled American Veterans and VFW Post 448 in Pittsfield. He was past president of the SIOGA Club in Pittsfield. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He and his wife, the former Catherine Andrews, were married July 3, 1972. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Robert P. Croteau of Pittsfield; two daughters, Kelly L. Croteau of Deltona, Fla., and Riqui-Anne Wilker of Pittsfield; two stepsons, Mark A. Gilday of Norfolk and Gary T. Gilday of Pittsfield; a brother, Thomas Croteau of Chicopee, eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert J. Croteau, who died Jan. 30, 2005, will be tomorrow, Feb. 2, at 3 at First Baptist Church, 89 South St., Pittsfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, which is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Shaun, Gary and Aalayah Gilday, Katrina Croteau, Kristina Kerwood, Melissa and John Wilker and Michael Jones; his great-grandson, Austin Gilday, and his good friends, Marcia Morrell, Donna Sturtevant and Mary Phaneuf. Bob and his family will always have a special place in their hearts for his hospice workers.
