Joseph P. Candiloro

Joseph P. Candiloro, 79, of 895 Middle Road, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital where he was admitted Jan. 29 following a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 13, 1925, son of Domenico and Stella Giacco Candiloro, he was educated in North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1943 and the New York Trade School in New York City in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 17, 1944, as a seaman second class until his honorable discharge on Nov. 21, 1944. Mr. Candiloro joined the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 104 and was employed in many construction areas, including the Yankee Atomic and Nuclear Industry in Rowe, retiring in 1982. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church where he was a longtime altar server. He was also a life member of the North Adams Lodge Sons of Italy and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fly tying. He leaves his wife of 54 years, the former Lucille E. Ramsdell, whom he married April 15, 1950, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church; two daughters, Christine Lecuyer and Nadine Kuhner, both of Adams; a son, Francis Candiloro of Heartwellville, Vt.; two sisters, Victoria Testa of Pittsfield and Sara Roulier of Adams; a brother, Theodore Candiloro of Attleboro, and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Joseph Candiloro will take place Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at 9:15 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 64 Marshall St., with the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, from 1 to 4. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Take and Eat Food Program through the funeral home. Survivors include sons-in-law, Gary Lecuyer and Arnold Kuhner; daughter-in-law, Cynthia "Cyndi" Candiloro and grandchildren, Charlene Candiloro, Frank Candiloro, Natalia Kuhner, Catherine Lecuyer and David Lecuyer. He was predeceased by brothers, Nathan Candiloro and Natale Candiloro
