Gertrude V. Pedercini

Gertrude V. Pedercini, 98, of St. Joseph's Court, 85 Eagle St.,died yesterday at North Adams Commons, where she was admitted Jan. 30 following a brief illness. Born in North Adams on Nov. 6, 1906, daughter of Joseph and Alice Morton Chalifoux, she attended local schools. Mrs. Pedercini assisted her husband, Frank Archide Pedercini, in the operation of Pedercini's Diner, which he established in 1927, until it closed in 1950. The couple also operated the former Modern Dairy Ice Cream Parlor. They established Pedercini's Dairy Bar in Clarksburg in 1955, running until they retired in 1964. She had earlier worked at the former Mayflower Cotton Mill and as a hair stylist. She was a life member of First United Methodist Church and attended its services at St. Joseph's Court. She also attended the Adult Day Care Program. She enjoyed art and painting. Her husband, whom she married July 17, 1926, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., died Dec. 23, 1987. She leaves a daughter, Bertha E. Davignon of Clarksburg; a sister, Lillian V. Morey of North Adams; a granddaughter, five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Gertrude V. Pedercini, who died Feb. 7, 2005, will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 10, at 1:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, by the Rev. Susan Stewart, pastor of First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Feb. 9, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations are suggested for the Eileen Barrett Foundation through the funeral home. Survivors include her granddaughter, Linda E. Neville and her husband, John A. Neville Jr., of Clarksburg; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca L. Armstrong and her husband, John C., John A. Neville III and his wife, Fredericka, Peggie Neville and her husband, Alan Aubin, Frank M. Davignon Jr. and his wife, Ann; six great-great-grandchildren, Joshua Neville, Jerad Neville, Jocelyn Neville, Samantha Davignon, Michael Davignon and Travis Lehman; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Chalifoux and Catherine "Kitty" Chalifoux. She was predeceased by three grandsons, Frank Davignon, Norman Davignon and Gary Davignon; sister, Alice Denault; brothers, Clarence Chalifoux, Alfred Chalifoux, Jean Chalifoux, Raymond Chalifoux and Thomas Morton Chalifoux, and son-in-law, Leo Davignon.
