Priscilla A. Gould

Priscilla A. Gould, 81, of 1 Berkshire Square died Thursday evening at her home. Born in Newburyport, on June 2, 1923, daughter of the late Rowland and Walborg Bye Currier, she attended Newburyport schools, graduating from Newburyport High School. She then graduated from the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She lived in the Newburyport area until coming to the Adams area in 1953. Mrs. Gould worked as a registered nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Following her retirement, she worked part-time for CompCare Visiting Nurses for 10 years, and also volunteered at the Adams Senior Center. She was a member of First Congregational Church of North Adams, and was an avid reader. Her husband, Arthur H. Gould, whom she married Dec. 27, 1946, died March 18, 1987. She leaves three daughters, Judith Lightholder of Bellingham, Barbara Pietras of Adams, and Lizabeth Stachelek of North Adams; a son, Arthur Gould of Alpharetta, Ga., and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. in First Congregational Church, Main Street, North Adams. The Rev. Jill Graham, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Council on Aging through the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
