Stanley R. Olender

Stanley R. Olender, 94, of 22 High St., Housatonic, died Friday at Fairview Hospital shortly after being stricken at home. Born in Rome, N.Y., on Sept. 4, 1910, son of Ignatius and Wladyslawa Gromelski Olender, he moved to Housatonic as a child and attended local schools. A master cabinetmaker, Mr. Olender studied under Antonio Guerrieri of Stockbridge. He worked on the main church at the Congregation of Marian Helpers in Stockbridge. He and his wife, the former Frances Olender, were married in 1930 at All Saints' Church in Housatonic. She died Oct. 7, 1985. He leaves a daughter, Joanne Martin of Housatonic; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Stanley R. Olender, who died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, will be held Thursday, Feb. 17, at 9 from BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at All Saints' Church celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Housatonic. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Stanley's memory may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He is also survived by a son-in-law, Jim Martin; six grandchildren, Karen Weiderpass, and Michael J., David J., Paul J. and Barbara J. Martin, and Tanya Furey; and by three great-grandchildren, Krista and Erik Weiderpass, and Brian E. Furey III.
