Elaine Catherine Murach, 61, of 11 Winter St. died Tuesday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. Born in Adams on March 1, 1943, daughter of Matthew J. Wilk Sr. and Blanche Krzanik Wilk, she attended local schools. Mrs. Murach was employed for 17 years in the stitching department of the former Pownal (Vt.) Tanning Co., until 1980. She had earlier been employed as a nanny by local families. She was a communicant of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. She and her husband, William F. Murach, were married Oct. 3, 1964, in St. Stanislaus' Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a brother, Matthew J. Wilk Jr. of Adams, a former selectman. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Elaine C. Murach, who died Feb. 15, 2005, will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 21, at 10 in Notre Dame Church, Adams, by the Rev. Bonaventure Moccia, CP, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. A prayer service will be offered before the Mass at 9:15 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 8:15 until 9:15 a.m. The family suggests memorial donations to the Notre Dame Renovation Fund through the funeral home. Mrs. Murach also leaves many cousins in the area.
