Thomas Gerald Leveille

Thomas Gerald Leveille, 79, a resident of Bennington, Vt., for 18 years, and a former resident of Cheshire, Conn., for 30 years, died Thursday at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. He was the father of Gary Leveille of Great Barrington. Born in Monson on Oct. 20, 1925, son of Frank and Cecil Thayer Leveille, he attended local schools. Mr. Leveille was a field superintendent for Westinghouse Elevators in Hartford, Conn., retiring in 1984 after 38 years of service. An Army veteran, he served as a corporal in the 33rd and 36th Battalion Infantry in Belgium and Germany during World War II. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and traveling. He was a member of the American Legion in Monson, and the Carl Dessaint VFW Post 1034, Brattleboro, Vt. He married the former Edith Pease in Monson on March 9, 1945. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 9. Besides his wife of Bennington and his son of Great Barrington, he leaves a daughter, Lynne Weagle of Paxton; a sister, Agnes Meyer of Ellington, Conn.; two brothers, Francis Levielle of Brimfield and Olin Leveille of Somers, Conn., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services and interment will be held in the spring in Hillside Cemetery in Monson. There are no visiting hours. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Hoisington of North Grosvenor Dale, Conn., and a brother, John Leveille of Somers, Conn.
