Rachel Belanger

Rachel Belanger, 75, of 372 Houghton St., died Tuesday morning at home. Born in Adams on Feb. 26, 1929, daughter of Arthur and Angelina Viens LaFountain, she attended Adams schools. Mrs. Belanger was employed by the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams as a seamstress for 18 years, retiring in 1990. She had earlier worked for the former Sprague Electric Co. for several years. Mrs. Belanger was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas in Adams. Her husband, Thomas W. Belanger, whom she married Dec. 12, 1962, died Dec. 7, 1987. She leaves four sons, Darrel DeSanty of the state of New York, Arthur J. DeSanty of Pownal, Vt., John R. DeSanty of Savoy and Alan Belanger of Adams; two daughters, Diana Livsey of Adams and Darlene Belanger of North Adams, with whom she resided; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rachel Belanger, who died Feb. 22, 2005, will be Saturday, Feb. 26, at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 5 to 8. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard LaFountain, Ernest LaFountain, Arthur LaFountain Jr. and Lawrence Williams; and two sisters, Doris Maynard and Loretta Wojcik.
