Heather M. Torres, 17

STAMFORD, Vt. — Heather Marie Torres, 17, of 483 Lincoln Road died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2005, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass., after being injured in an automobile accident on Tuesday evening. Born in North Adams, Mass., on July 9, 1987, daughter of Samuel Charles and Nancy Lee McKinney Torres of Stamford, she attended schools in Stamford and was a student in the computer-assisted drafting program at McCann Technical School in North Adams. She was also taking classes at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams. Miss Torres had been employed part time in the dietary department at North Adams Regional Hospital. While at McCann, she was a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions and the prom committee. As a freshman, she was part of the drama club and, as a sophomore, worked on the yearbook committee. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was a gold medalist in the state VICA competition. She was also an MCAS scholarship recipient. She was an active communicant of St. John Bosco Church in Stamford. She played the bass guitar and enjoyed reading. Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Adrienne Lynn Torres of Stamford; her maternal grandmother, Jeannine Delisle McKinney of Clarksburg; her paternal grandfather, Gerald D. Brassard of North Adams; 10 aunts and uncles, Eric McKinney, Karen Moran, Carl McKinney, Phyllis Desautels, Gail Galusha, Donna Thomann, Miriam Serrano, Sharon Girard, Charles Lia and Joanna Gilbert, and many close cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Miss Torres will take place Monday at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael Twardzik, pastor, and the Rev. Joseph Tate, pastor of St. John Bosco Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the New England Organ Bank in care of the funeral home.
