Donald Godbout

Donald Godbout, 69, of 125 Smoke St., Barrington, N.H., formerly of North Adams, died Thursday at the Portsmouth (N.H.) Hospital after a period of failing health. Born April 4, 1935, in North Adams, son of Henry and Rachel Moreau Godbout, he was a graduate of Drury High School. He served for 23 years in the Air Force until his retirement. Mr. Godbout had lived in Barrington for 25 years after moving from Rochester. He worked as a postal worker in the Barrington post office for 20 years until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially bird hunting. He was a member of the Rochester Elks Lodge 1393 and the American Legion Post 7. He leaves his wife of 16 years, the former Elsie Belanger; two sons, Dr. Christopher J. Godbout of Wilmington, N.C., and David E. Godbout of Berwick; three stepsons, Mitchell Massiwer of Attleboro, George Massiwer of West Greenwich, R.I., and Paul Massiwer of Seekonk; three stepdaughters; Sharon Rivard and Cindy Castler, both of Attleboro, and Rachel Gurton of Seekonk; two sisters, Joanne Raimer of Adams and Michelle Sipala of Lynnfield; three grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road, North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, are Monday from noon to 1:30. Donations to the American Heart Association or to the Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home. Survivors include three grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily, and Sophie Godbout. A sister, Rose Marie St. Pierre, is deceased.
