Thaddeus "Teddy" Skubel

Thaddeus "Teddy" Skubel, 75, of 5 Water St. died Monday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on Sept. 21, 1929, son of John and Honorato Gajda Skubel, he attended schools there, including St. Stanislaus'. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was stationed in the Mediterranean. Mr. Skubel was employed by GE in the transformer department, retiring in 1988 after 38 years of service. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, a member of Adams American Legion Post 160 and an honorary life member and past exalted ruler of Adams Lodge of Elks 1335. He enjoyed playing cards. He and his wife, the former Elaine Noel, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary Dec. 26. Besides his wife, he leaves a brother, Chester Skubel of Martha's Vineyard; a sister, Mary Nowicki of Adams, and a granddaughter. He was predeceased by his son, Gary Skubel. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Thaddeus "Teddy" Skubel will be Friday at 10 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Ambulance Fund through the funeral home. He leaves his granddaughter, Rebecca Skubel of Burlington, Vt. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Skubel, and a sister, Jennifer Ariazi.
