Angelo W. Lombardi

Angelo W. Lombardi, 87, of 1285 East Washington Road died Wednesday morning at home. Born in Pittsfield on July 26, 1917, son of Antonino and Maria Felicia Carnevale Lombardi, he was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a radar crewman in the European-African-Middle Eastern theater. Mr. Lombardi was employed as an assembler at GE power transformer department, retiring in 1979 after 42 years of service. After retiring, he worked at the former First Agricultural Bank. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church, where he was an usher, and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed mushrooming, berrying and canning with his brothers, and reading. His wife, the former Rose McErlain, died Aug. 19, 2001. He leaves a son, Richard A. Lombardi of Dalton; two daughters, Linda Lombardi Burque of Leeds and Suzanne Lombardi-Rocca of Hinsdale, with whom he resided, and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Angelo W. Lombardi, 87, died Wednesday morning at his home in Hinsdale. Beloved grandfather to Emily, Andrew and Molly Burque, and Alison, Jason, Dustin and Lucas Lombardi. He also leaves his daughter-in-law, Susan Carroll-Lombardi, and sons-in-law, Richard Burque and George Rocca. The funeral will be Saturday, March 5, 2005, at 8:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 at St. Agnes Church by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at Dery-Foley Funeral Home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of DWYER FUNERAL HOME,776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Alexander, and by a sister, Marie Carmina.
