Clifford T. Morin

Clifford T. Morin, 89, of 186 School St. died Thursday afternoon, at the home of his daughter, Nancy Wadleigh, in Westford. Born in North Adams on March 1, 1916, son of David and Delina Morrier Morin, he was a graduate of Drury High School. He had lived in Cheshire for 55 years. Mr. Morin worked for General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 39 years and was manager of the tool engineering department for 23 years. During his career at GE, he was recognized as an expert in creative tooling and control procedures. He received local and national recognition for his work in the field of numerical control machining. He also holds the distinction of being on the initial manufacturing team to move from power transformer and set up the first production line in the Ordnance division in 1941. After his retirement from GE, he worked as a manufacturing consultant for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. He also served on the C.H. McCann Technical High School Tool Advisory Board for several years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cheshire, where he served on many committees. He was a member of Berkshire Lodge of Masons in Adams for over 50 years, and was a member and past president of the Cheshire Lions Club. He was also a member of the Cheshire Planning Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and golfing. He and his wife, the former Eleanor Hathaway, were married Nov. 9, 1941. Besides his wife, and daughter, he leaves another daughter, Judith Wist of Belle Mead, N.J.; a son, Robert Morin of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Clifford Morin will be Monday, March 14, at noon in the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. The Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel, will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private for the family in Maple Street Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Monday from 10 until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westford Ambulance Fund Inc., P.O. Box 197, Westford, MA 01886, or the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department, Cheshire, MA 01225, or through the funeral home.
