Marie Bohlen

Marie Bohlen, 86, of North Plain Road, Housatonic, died Monday afternoon at Providence Health Care in Lenox, where she had resided since September. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 9, 1918, daughter of William and Caroline Plewka, she graduated from Brooklyn schools. She resided in Valley Stream, N.Y., until moving to Housatonic in the late 1960s. She and her late husband, George H. Bohlen, owned and operated the River's Bend Art Gallery in West Stockbridge until they retired and closed it in 2002. Her husband, whom she married Sept. 28, 1940, died Feb. 16, 2004. She leaves a son, George S. Bohlen of Housatonic; a daughter, Eileen Kuperschmid-Pierce of Housatonic; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial gathering for Marie Bohlen, who died March 14, 2005, will be announced at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad or to the Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation through FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Patrecia Bohlen; her son-in-law, Al Coppola; her sister-in-law, Adele Bohlen of Lenox; three grandchildren, Daniel Kuperschmid of Atlanta, Christopher Mitsinikos of Upper Saddle River, N.J., and Rachel Roberts of Danvers, and three great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Owen Mitsinikos and Sierra Kuperschmid. She was predeceased by her brother, William Plewka Jr.
