Mary A. Sini

Mary A. Sini, 93, of 19 Maple St., Greenfield, died Wednesday at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton, following a period of failing health. A native of Capaci, Palermo, Italy, she was born on Nov. 18, 1911, to Bartolomeo and Seraphina Drago Costa and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1912, settling in Great Barrington. She attended elementary schools in Great Barrington, and graduated from high school in 1929 in Cortland, N.Y. Mrs. Sini had been employed for several years as a private child care provider for local physicians and their families, and later was a clerk for the Barrett & Baker Stationary Store, Greenfield. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, music, and was a fan of Elvis Presley and of John F. Kennedy. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield, where she was an active volunteer in parish activities. At the time of her death, she was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Her husband, Joseph M. Sini, whom she married July 22, 1933, in St. Peter's Church, Great Barrington, died May 1971. She leaves a son, Joseph M. Sini of Geneva, Fla.; a daughter, Joanne Sini Yasneski of Bellville, N.J.; a brother, Anthony Peter Sini of Great Barrington, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mary Sini will be Monday, March 21, 2005, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main St., Greenfield at 9 with the Rev. Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, as celebrant. Guests are instructed to convene directly at the church location on the morning of the service. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Greenfield. Mary's family will receive guests on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the MCCARTHY FUNERAL HOMES, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, from 2 to 5. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the "Warm the Children Campaign," in c/o the Recorder, Attn: Jane Kane, P. O. Box 1367, Greenfield, MA 01302-1367.
