Helen S. Walker, 89, died yesterday morning at home. Born in South Norwalk, Conn., on June 6, 1915, daughter of Alex and Julia Hutkai Erdos, she was educated there. In the 1950s and 60s, she and her husband, Joseph, managed Broadview Farm, the last operating poor farm in Connecticut. They moved to Becket in 1972. Mrs. Walker was active in her church communities, both in Danbury, Conn., and in Becket. She was known for her beautiful gardens, traditional American crafts, and her pastries. Her husband, Joseph J.B. Walker Sr., whom she married February 1932, died Oct. 7, 1996. She leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Joseph J. Walker Sr. and Jackson R. Walker, and her daughter, Judith L. Murray. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Helen S. Walker will be held Tuesday at 11 at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with the Rev. Charles Young, chaplain for Hospice, officiating.
