Ellen Mary Sinderman, 90
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ellen Mary Sinderman, 90, of 61 Chantilly Ave. died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown, where she was admitted March 17.
Born in North Adams on June 15, 1914, daughter of Walter and Mary Ellen Burke Graves, she was educated in local schools, including Drury High School.
Mrs. Sinderman was employed by New England Telephone Co. as an operator and later worked in the business office as a teller. She retired in 1969.
She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of the Incarnation Church and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Stamford (Vt.) Valley Golf Course, where she played in the Ladies' Golf League, and a former member of Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown.
She also was a member of the Rhythm Belles line dancing group, which performed at local nursing homes, and a longtime member of the Northern Berkshire YMCA. She enjoyed swimming, gardening and outdoor winter sports, including skiing. The matriarch of her family, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt.
She and her husband, Edward C. Sinderman, were married Aug. 1, 1942.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Dayle E. Sinderman of Williamstown; two nephews, William Filiault and Richard Filiault, and a niece, Joan Blair.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Peter and Herbert Graves, and by three sisters, Martha Filiault, Margaret Gray and Mary Ellen Graves, who died in infancy in England.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Sinderman will be celebrated Saturday at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the Eileen Barrett Foundation through the funeral home.
