Anne Cohen

Anne Cohen, 83, of 75 Biltmore Ave. died yesterday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Sept. 8, 1921, daughter of Morris and Pauline Weisbrodt Pindick, she graduated from Drury High School in 1939. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Cohen was employed at the former Shoe-Mart Store on Main Street for several years and, during World War II, at the former Sprague Electric Co. She was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel and its Sisterhood. She also was a member of Hadassah. She and her husband, Emanuel Cohen, were married July 19, 1945, in North Adams. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Marilyn Amazon of Cincinnati and Sheila Shapiro of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Anne Pindick Cohen, who died April 11, 2005, will be conducted tomorrow, April 13, at 11 at Congregation Beth Israel, Lois St., North Adams, by Rabbi Jeffrey Goldwasser, spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery, Clarksburg. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for Congregation Beth Israel or the American Diabetes Association through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Survivors also include a son-in-law, Jay Shapiro; two grandchildren, Marc and Tiffany Amazon, and a great-grandson, Evan Richard Amazon. She was predeceased by two brothers, Isadore Herbert Pindick, on Jan. 23, 2003, and Sgt. Benjamin Pindick, who was killed in World War II. She was devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for her loving family.
