Helen Anna Turoczy

Helen Anna Turoczy, 93, of 36 Burt St. died Saturday afternoon at home after a long illness. Born in Adams on Sept. 15, 1911, daughter of August and Martha Wittig Oue, she attended the former Renfrew and C.T. Plunkett schools. She entered the work force at an early age and was first employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates in Mill 2, where she tended the harness mender in the drawing section. She left in 1944 and became a homemaker. Later, she was a domestic for several area families. Mrs. Turoczy was a member of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a communicant of Notre Dame Church. She was a former member of Adams Turnverein and participated in its gymnast class. She was also a member and longtime president of the Turners Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening. Her husband, Thaddeus J. Turoczy, whom she married Aug. 30, 1941, died Nov. 20, 1964. She leaves a daughter, Veronica A. "Vera" Silvia of Adams; a son, Lawrence F. Turoczy of Adams; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Helen A. Turoczy, who died April 16, 2005, will be offered tomorrow, April 19, at 12:30 at Notre Dame Church in Adams. The Rev. Daniel Boyle, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, will be today, April 18, from 5 to 8. The family suggests memorial donations to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. Mrs. Turoczy leaves four grandchildren, Daniel Silvia of Sudbury, and Amy Lynn Silvia, Timothy Turoczy and Sara Turoczy, all of Adams; and three great-grandchildren, Carmela and Evan Silvia, and Emily Godfrey.
