Julia R. Truskowski

Julia R. Truskowski, 79, of 6 Meadow Lane, died Thursday morning at her home. Born in Adams on April 30, 1925, daughter of John and Mary Kotry Czubryt, she attended schools there. Mrs. Truskowski owned and operated the former Julie'sVariety Store on Summer Street in Adams for several years, retiring in 1977. Earlier, she had worked at the former Central Market in North Adams, the former First National Store and the former Casey's Market, both in Adams. She first worked at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 10 years. A communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, she enjoyed cooking, dancing and Polish music. At one time she had written lyrics for the Happy Louie Polka Band. She and her husband, Joseph F. Truskowski, were married on July 6, 1946. He died on June 20, 2000. She leaves a son, Joseph F. Truskowski Jr. of North Adams; a daughter, Mary Zabek of Shelton, Conn., and four grandchildren FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 9 from Auge'-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the parishes of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, the Adams Ambulance Service, or the American Heart Association through the funeral home. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Truskowski; a son-in-law, Robert Zabek ; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Truskowski of Butler, N.J., Brian Truskowski of North Adams and Kevin and Lisa Zabek, both of Shelton, Conn.; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Vincent, Karol, Casimer, Matthew, George and Frank Czubryt I and Frank Czubryt II; and her sisters Catherine Rysz, Minnie Les, Mary Czubryt and Julia Czubryt.
