Edward S. Fennelly

Edward S. Fennelly, 66, of 119 Main St., died Thursday morning at his home. Born in Tyringham on March 23, 1939, son of Richard and Amy Woodin Fennelly, he was educated in the Tyringham and Lee schools, and attended Lee High School. Most of his life he was a self-employed carpenter until joining his twin brother, Everett S. Fennelly, in the 1990s in the Fennelly Brothers Building Construction of Tyringham. He was also a maple syrup producer and operated a business called Twin Maple, and was co-owner of Cobble Mountain Tents. Mr. Fennelly was a former selectman, assessor, deputy fire chief and reserve police officer, and was the town's former highway superintendent. He was a member of the Evening Star Lodge AF and AM of Lee. He was a fan of the Boston Braves and the now Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed gardening, collecting baseball cards and hunting. He leaves his wife, the former Dianne M. Keiderling, whom he married on Oct. 5, 1963. Besides his wife and twin brother of Tyringham, he leaves two sons, Adam E. Fennelly of Otis and Darrell G. Fennelly of Lee; a daughter, Patricia B. Boyle of Pittsfield; two other brothers, Willis R. Fennelly of Otis and Thomas L. Fennelly of Tyringham; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral service for Edward Fennelly will be held Wednesday morning, April 27, at 11 at Tyringham Union Church with the Rev. Janet McKinstry, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Tyringham Cemetery, with Pastor McKinstry and members of the Evening Star Lodge conducting the graveside service. The family will receive friends at KELLY FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Ed leaves his loving grandchildren, Lynette, Diana, Michael, Justin, Aiden, Kaitlyn, and his great-granddaughter, Hallie.
