Marion Jarvis

Marion Jarvis, 87, of 75 Commercial St. died Sunday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. Born in North Adams on July 1, 1917, daughter of Nathan and Rose LaRoche Godfrey, she was a 1935 graduate of Drury High School. Mrs. Jarvis was employed as a nursing technician at the former Adams Rest Home and the former Willowood of Williamstown. Earlier, she had been a governess for the Park family of Williamstown and for the Estler family of Milford, N.H. She was a communicant of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. Her husband, Leo Jarvis, is deceased. She leaves a son, Robert A. Beebe of Westfield; two daughters, Rosemary Field of Kinderhook, N.Y., and Margaret Moody of Deltona, Fla., and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Following cremation, a funeral in celebration of the life of Marion Jarvis, who died April 24, 2005, will be offered tomorrow, April 28, at 10:30 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St. The Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor of First Baptist Church of Cheshire and of Morningside Baptist Church of Pittsfield, will officiate. Inurnment will follow the Mass in the family lot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Private visitation for the family only will be Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30. A brother, Kenneth Godfrey, is deceased. She also leaves nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to McBride Funeral Home.
