Kenneth E. Tower, 71

MONROE, Mass. â€' Kenneth Edward Tower, 71, of 126 Main Road died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted Friday after a brief illness. Born in North Adams on May 21, 1933, son of Lewis H. and Ellen Schmall Tower, he attended schools in Monroe. Mr. Tower was employed by the Monroe Highway Department for 27 years, retiring in 1988. He also worked at the former Hathaway Saw Mill in Monroe and at the former Readsboro (Vt.) Chair Factory. He was a former member of the South Readsboro (Vt.) Community Center. He and his wife, the former Ella Susan Robinson Bliss, were married Oct. 18, 1980, at First Congregational Church in North Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Karen Lescarbeau of Readsboro; two sons, George Edward Tower and Ronald Kenneth Tower, both of Readsboro; five stepdaughters, Constance Blanchette and Judith Bliss, both of the state of Florida, Donna Bulshey of the town of Florida, Brenda Shingledecker of Agawam and Lisa Finney of Klin, Miss.; a stepson, Richard E. Bliss Jr. of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Henry H. Tower of North Adams and Harold L. Tower of Adams; three sisters, Priscilla Thayer of Readsboro, and Bethal Alex and Leona May Jones, both of Greenfield; three grandchildren, and two great-grandsons, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Shirley Bennett and infant Helen May Tower in 1928. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Services for Mr. Tower will be Wednesday, May 4, at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. The Rev Harold Lloyd Jr., former pastor of First Congregational Church of North Adams, will officiate. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, May 3, from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in his memory through the funeral home.
