Barbara Hogan

Barbara Hogan, 83, of 385 Ingalls Road died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Adams on Aug. 21, 1921, daughter of Ralph B. and Mildred Withopper Jones, she was a 1939 graduate of the former Adams High School. She also attended William & Mary College in Virginia. During World War II, she was employedat the Pentagon as a secretary for Army Services. After the war, she worked in France and Germany as a part of the "civilian army" supporting the reconstruction of Europe through Army Services. A homemaker, Mrs. Hogan was a bookkeeper at the former D.F. Harrington Plumbing for 10 years. She was a member of Berkshire Union Chapel and its Ladies' Auxiliary. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Her husband, Robert F. Hogan, whom she married May 28, 1949, in Adams, died Oct. 30, 1990. She leaves two sons, Daniel T. Hogan and Robert J. Hogan, both of Adams; two daughters, Heather Hogan Welch of Plymouth and Colleen Gomes of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a sister, Fronnie Whitney of Cheshire; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Barbara Jones Hogan, who died May 6, 2005, will be conducted Tuesday at 10 at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, by the Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor of First Baptist Church of Adams. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow, May 9, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Cheshire Fire Department in care of the funeral home. She is lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Holly Hogan Field, Sarah Hogan Welch, Caleb John Welch, Melannie Rose Gomes and Kristy Gomes, and by five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Russell Jones.

Great Aunt Barbie was a wonderful woman. Kind, openhearted and easy to laugh, I always looked forward to visiting her and the cousins.
I have warm memories, of this lovely lady ,who was all about being kind and good and real.
