Thomas Raymond Tenbroeck Sr.

Thomas Raymond Tenbroeck Sr., 71, of 109 Townhouse Hill Road, South Egremont, died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Great Barrington on Aug. 26, 1933, son of Kenneth H. Tenbroeck Sr. and Katherine McGowan Tenbroeck, he was a 1951 graduate of the former Searles High School. An Army veteran, he served for five years, including during the Korean War. A painting contractor, Mr. Tenbroeck worked with his son, Thomas R. Tenbroeck Jr. He was a charter member and founder of the Egremont Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the National Rifle Association and of James A. Modolo VFW Post 8348 in Great Barrington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coon hunting with his dog Rusty, gardening and camping. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He and his wife, the former Marlene Pezzee, were married June 24, 1961, in Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield. Besides his wife and son, of South Egremont, he leaves two daughters, Michele Bangs of Ashley Falls and Christina Burlarley of South Egremont; a brother, Kenneth H. Tenbroeck Jr. of Great Barrington, and five grandchildren. Another son, Martin Kenneth Tenbroeck, died Sept. 8, 1962. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Thomas R. Tenbroeck Sr., who died Thursday, May 5, 2005, will be conducted Tuesday, May 10, at 11 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Art Kaufman. Burial will follow in Townhouse Hill Road Cemetery, Egremont. The family will receive friends tomorrow, May 9, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Thomas' memory may be made to the Egremont Fire Department or to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Sarah Bangs, on Jan. 20, 1983. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and his grandchildren, Stephanie Nicole, Jessica Marie and Christopher Stephen Bangs, Rachel Sarah Burlarley and Jacob Thomas Tenbroeck.
