Kenneth S. Shepard Sr.

Kenneth S. Shepard Sr., 89, of Clyde Morris Boulevard, Ormond Beach, Fla., and 47 Sunrise St., Lanesborough, died May 10 at home in Ormond Beach. Born in Pittsfield, son of Lloyd and Jenni Shepard, he graduated from Pittsfield High School. He was a longtime resident of Lanesborough before he began spending winters in Florida since 1978. Mr. Shepard was employed by GE for 43 years, starting with the apprentice program and ending with his retirement from the ordnance division in 1978. He was active in the Mystic Lodge of Masons of Pittsfield and held many positions, including grand master in 1947. He enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. He attended Morningside Baptist Church in Pittsfield for most of his life. His wife, Etta M. Shepard, died in 1977. He leaves two sons, Kenneth S. Shepard Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Douglas P. Shepard of Natick; a sister, Ester Hall of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Wilbur Shepard of St. Petersburg and Everett Shepard of Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Kenneth S. Shepard Sr., who died May 10, 2005, will be held at a later date at Morningside Baptist Church, Pittsfield, with a private burial at Hillside Cemetery in Stephentown, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Morningside Baptist Church, 475 Tyler St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mr. Shepard enjoyed the many lives of his family. Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Lila Shepard and Marilyn Shepard; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Shepard; his grandchildren, Jay Nettles and his wife, Mary Jane, Joy Chakurda and her husband, Joe, Kent Shepard and his wife, Patty, all of Virginia; Arnold Nettles and his wife, Melody, of Tennessee; and Jason and Matthew Shepard, both of Boston.
